Renaissance Centre/Mount Saint Mary’s Convent For Sale

After sitting vacant for over a decade, the old Convent at Katoomba is set for an auction on the 23rd of July.

The building was built as a convent and used as a boarding school before being sold off. The site re-emerged as the Renaissance Centre for a short stint as a tourism/cultural centre before sitting empty since the 1990s.

Regular coverage in the media in 1998, 2001, 2002 and heritage listing in 2003 kept the site in the public eye. If you are curious to see inside and views from around the 4 acres of grounds, check out the listing

I understand the building require major works for it to be habitable. do you have a survey report of the existing building?

Do you have any floor or site plans and what price are you expecting?

    regards

Hi Vera – Did you find out if it was sold? We viewed it earlier in 2010. It hadn’t sold at auction in 2009

    Hi Glenn
Real estate in Katoomba – Poulos – has floor plans if that helps?

Yes, major works required to make habitable, unfortunately. Could throw a couple of million at it and wouldn’t get any change. It is such a beautiful old building – heritage listed.

Hey, I’m a local filmmaker from the Blue Mountains and i’m curious who owns the place now. I’m wondering because I’d like to film a shortfilm in there because it’s absolutely perfect, but I don’t want to break laws and/or get fined for being in there without permission. I wouldn’t damage the place or anything, because I think it’s great. I see security company signs around it on the fence, I was going to call them but I have no idea if that company still monitor the place.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
