Smart House Winners Visit Wentworth Falls…Oops

Friday, October 8th, 2010

You might have read about the competition to let a family live rent free for a year in a “Smart House” in Newington in Inner Western Sydney, designed to showcase energy efficiency and low water use. The contest is over and the winners have moved in, and they have recently been trying out an electric car, the new Mitsubishi i-MiEV. Unfortunately, a trip to Blackheath proved too taxing for the batteries, and the car ran out of puff (buzz?) in Wenty.

Happily, the rain held off as the driver and passenger hoofed it into town for a bite, but the car had to be towed home.

Electric transport of one sort or another (we already have those shiny electric passenger devices over there on the rails) will most likely be key in the future, so lets hope the car makers can improve the range and a practical recharge network is developed.

Read the whole adventure and more from the Smart Home family here.
